This library uses the v2 API for GitHub as detailed here: http://develop.github.com.
For now the demo site is ugly and purely a quick toss up after the very first build. The library is still under development but you can utilize what's there now just fine. Also, the unit tests are included in the GitHub repo so you can use those to test. This actually should work just fine under CF7 or 8 but I might have var'ed down the lines in cffunctions. ;-) With that said:
